Where a person takes possession of land without consent of the owner and remains there in excess of 15 years he may be entitled to claim adverse possession rights to the property.

For private property the adverse possessor must be in possession in excess of 15 years: where the state is the owner of the lands, he must be in possession in excess of 30 years.

He can make an application to the High Court, through his attorney, to be granted a deed to the property.
